Not everyone can be like Jamaica, currently looking to legalize marijuana. New Zealand police reportedly confiscated a massive amount of weed—though maybe not as massive as the huge Colorado drug raid that led police to find so much weed they needed back up from the National Guard just to haul it—and burned it. In doing so New Zealand police accidentally got its townspeople high. Weed is illegal in the country with a person being penalized with anything from a $500 fine for having it to a 14 year sentence for growing it.

The accidental public smoke session took place in the town of Turangi reportsThe Daily Dot. As the weed burned the fumes wafted into a supermarket’s parking lot. Metro identified the supermarket as the New World supermarket.

Fortunately the (very) happy accident was caught on video by one Adam Green according toThe Daily Dot. Green posted the video on Facebook that shows the weed smoke coming out of the Turangi police station's chimney. "Man, does it smell like the old ganja over there," Green says taking a moment to take in the fresh air calling it "ganja-ry."

Police have since apologized for the accidental free light up. Metroreports Taupo Area Commander Warwick Morehu said, "Unfortunately… given the conditions [and] the wind I understand the smoke did drift further than anticipated." Morehu added, "I apologize on my staff's behalf to the community, and we have already taken measures to change our practice and procedures going forward into the future."

Does this mean police inside the station were also tripping out? They're probably even more bummed a controlled marijuana burn won't be happening again.
