During his time as a Texas senator Ted Cruz got a lot done. One of his efforts, perhaps one that should not go unnoticed, was supporting a state ban on the sale and advertisement of dildos. Despite his anti-dildo stance, Cruz revealed later this week that as president he would not ban sex toys of any kind.

Earlier this week a Mother Jones article looked closely at a Texas law and a case from back in 2007 that was pretty controversial. The case followed a mother who was arrested by undercover cops after selling sex toys. The law in Texas "prohibits the advertisement and sale of dildos, artificial vaginas, and other obscene devices." While people are not prohibited from using the toys in the privacy of their own homes, it's the distribution of these toys within Texas that's punishable. The woman's defense argued that the law went against the right to privacy that's given to citizens as protected by the 14th Amendment. Cruz and his legal team, however, disagreed.

Cruz is super in support of this law and while senator he worked hard on making sure it stuck around. Still, despite this, in an interview with radio station WABC, the Republican presidential candidate—who continues to trail behind Donald Trump—said he would not ban sex toys as president.

"Look, of course not, it’s a ridiculous question, and of course not," Cruz said to host Curtis Sliwa on Friday. "What people do in their own private time with themselves is their own business and it’s none of government’s business."
