GOP nominee Donald Trump and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan released a joint statement declaring that they've settled their differences and emphasized the Republican party's need to band together and defeat Hillary Clinton after a meeting Thursday morning.
"The United States cannot afford another four years of the Obama White House, which is what Hillary Clinton represents," the statement reads. "We had a great conversation this morning. While we were honest about our few differences, we recognize that there are also many important areas of common ground. We will be having additional discussions, but remain confident there’s a great opportunity to unify our party and win this fall, and we are totally committed to working together to achieve that goal."

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus echoed that the meeting, which he also attended, went well.
Ryan and Trump haven't always seen eye-to-eye, though. When asked if he would support Trump just last week, Ryan said on CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper" that he was "not ready to do that at this point." Apparently, he's since come around—though Sarah Palin doesn't seem to be buying it. She wrote on Facebook Thursday morning that Ryan's conclusion from the meeting should "be as accurate as his infamous claims of balancing a budget... or running his Olympic-qualifying marathon."
The Donald Trump campaign and Paul Ryan's office did not immediately return Complex's request for comment.
