The Orlando Police Department has released call logs from the morning of the tragic massacre at Pulse nightclub earlier in June, in which 49 people were killed and an additional 53 were injured. The 125-page document provides additional terrifying insight into the shooting and the experience of those who were trapped inside Pulse.
The log lists the calls that were made from inside the club during the shooting, which occurred during the early morning of Sunday, June 12. Multiple entries in the log describe calls from people who were hiding and couldn't find a way to escape the club while the shooter was active:
The log also noted when police officers on the phone were able to hear screams and shots fired from inside the club:
Last week the FBI and the Justice Department jointly released a partial transcript of the call the shooter, Omar Mateen, made to the Orlando Police Department just before he started opening fire in Pulse. Initially, the transcript was published with references to ISIS redacted. Many quickly criticized the decision to publish the transcript with portions redacted, and the transcript was quickly republished with the mention of ISIS and references to other acts of terror.
An FBI spokesperson declined to comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
The shooting at Pulse was the most deadly in U.S. history, and weeks later, federal authorities are continuing to investigate the shooting and the events that lead up to it.
The Orlando Police Department did not immediately reply to Complex's request for comment.
