An attempted alleged kidnapping at a dollar store in Florida was put to a stop Tuesday after the mother of the girl who was nearly kidnapped and an off-duty deputy leapt into action. The Citrus County Sheriff's department arrested the suspect, Craig Bonello after the botched crime was stopped, according to a statement released by the Sheriff's office. And the insane footage of the incident can be seen above.

According to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Bonello grabbed a 13-year-old girl who was shopping at a General Dollar store, after which the girl's mother ran after Bonello and her daugher, catching up to them and getting ahold of her daughter. The Sheriff's Office wrote that a "tug of war" over the girl ensued.

Police were called while the attempted suspected kidnapping was in progress, and at the same time, an off duty deputy, Jonathan Behnen, exited his patrol car to enter the store. The store's manager alerted Behnen that Bonello was trying to kidnap the teenager, and Behnen used his patrol car to block Bonello's car from driving away with the girl, the statement said.

The Sheriff's Department's said that both the mother and the girl were not physically injured. The statement also noted that Captain Ricky Grant said "Behnen is a bona fide hero today. If it weren’t for him, this guy would have gotten away," and Sergeant Craig Callahan "In my ten years on the road I have never seen anything like this. He truly intended to abduct this child right in front of everyone in the store."

Bonello was arrested on one count of child abuse and one count of kidnapping with the intent to commit or commission a felony.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Department did not immediately reply to Complex's request for comment.
