Donald Trump had some strong words for the many speakers who attacked him at the Democratic National Convention this week, saying he wants to "hit" many of them for their disparaging comments.

"I wanted to hit a number of those speakers so hard, their heads would spin," he said Thursday, speaking at a campaign event Davenport, Iowa. "They'd never recover."

He declined to name names but said he was going to hit one "little guy" in particular "so hard his head would spin, he wouldn't know what the hell happened."

Trump made the comments even before Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton made a commanding speech against him on Thursday night. In it, she slammed Trump's business history, his foreign policy views, and above all, >his unpresidential temperament.

"Imagine him in the Oval Office facing a real crisis," she said. "A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons."

Speakers throughout the convention had similarly strong words for Republicans. Vice President Joe Biden called Trump, "a man who confuses bluster with strength." President Barack Obama criticized the Republican National Convention in general, calling it "a deeply pessimistic vision of a country where we turn against each other, and turn away from the rest of the world" and rejected Trump's 'Make America Great Again' slogan.

"America is already great," he said. "America is already strong. And I promise you, our strength, our greatness, does not depend on Donald Trump."
