Delta Computer Outage Causes Delays, Cancellations, and Twitter Rage From Customers

Airline passengers who booked a flight with Delta today are in for a serious case of the Mondays, as the airline has canceled at least 300 flights worldwide due to a power outage in Atlanta, Ga. where the airline is based. The airline announced at 5:05 a.m. that a computer outage was causing flight delays, and later updated that "large-scale cancelations" would be in effect.

Due to a computer outage, flights awaiting departure are currently delayed. Flights enroute are operating normally.

As of 10:30 a.m. ET @Delta has canceled approx. 300 flights and operated 800 flights of the nearly 6,000 flights scheduled today.

By 8:40 a.m., some flights were back up and running, but passengers were still receiving conflicting and incorrect information about the status of their flights, which caused frustration among customers who were expecting to fly with Delta on Monday.

In the update posted at 8:40 a.m., Delta stated that passengers should expect delays and cancelations throughout the day Monday, adding that flight status information may not be accurate online or at the airport due to the computer outage.
