Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump can't seem to stop lashing out against Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the parents of Humayun Khan, a Muslim American solider who was killed in Iraq. After the Khans spoke out against Trump's racist and xenophobic rhetoric at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia last week and now following a new CNN interview, Trump has been going after the parents, to the dismay of both political parties.

During an interview for CNN on Monday morning, Khizr Khan stood by the remarks he delivered at the DNC, where he stated that he hopes Trump would take the time to read through the Constitution. Khan also called for Republican Speaker of the House and Majority Leader of the Senate Mitch McConnell to "repudiate" Trump.

In a joint interview with Ghazala Khan for CNN's New Day on Monday, Mr. Khan was told that Trump was watching the interview, and had tweeted out a response, saying Khan was viciously attacking him:

Told that Trump was watching the interview and tweeting, Khan responded that all of his commentary about Trump had been "appropriate," adding that  Trump should listen to what America and the world are telling him about his "lack of empathy."

Neither political party is pleased with Trump's attacks on the parents of a fallen U.S. soldier. According to CNN, Arizona senator John McCain said Monday,

It is time for Donald Trump to set the example for our country and the future of the Republican Party. While our Party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us.

CNN further reported that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's running mate Tim Kaine also condemned Trump's defamatory words against the Khans. Kaine said,

Is it OK to speak in a disrespectful way about the military, about a Gold Star mom and dad for God's sake, about people with disabilities, or saying offensive things about women, or trash people who are Latinos or immigrants more generally?
