George Zimmerman called 911 on Thursday claiming he was punched in the face at the Gator Riverside Grill in Sanford, Fla. According to a report from WFTV, restaurant patrons claim Zimmerman was bragging about shooting Trayvon Martin. “I love your tattoos," he allegedly said to a customer. "My name is George Zimmerman, you know, that guy who killed Trayvon Martin?” A man approached him soon after, asked him why he was bragging about the situation, and then proceeded to punch him in the face.

“He recognized me," Zimmerman said in the 911 call. "He told me he was going to kill me he told me he'd (expletive) shoot me and he punched me in the face.” He then asked them to send "three or four cops" to the scene to protect him.

Twitter users almost immediately had jokes directed his way regarding the incident.

Zimmerman became a notorious media fixture after he was involved in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in February 2012. He was eventually acquitted of the crime, but has since been involved in a number of unsavory situations, such as when he tried to auction the gun used in the incident on the internet.
