Here in Canada, it’s easy to take our constant access to double-doubles, for granted. The amount of Tim Hortons locations spread out across our great land is unrivaled. With continued successes in Nutella hybridity, and advances in flavoured Iced Capps, Tim Hortons has made being Canadian, a very tasty experience.

Thankfully, it seems as though Tim Hortons wants to share this experience with the rest of the world. Today, the restaurant chain announced that it’s expanding operations, with new locations opening in England, Wales, and Scotland.

In a statement released this morning, CEO Daniel Schwarz, said that “Great Britain is an attractive QSR market with a strong and growing coffee culture so it is a natural fit for the brand”. The quote highlights the main difficulty with introducing the chain in the UK. England has traditionally been a heavy tea-drinking nation, but more and more studies are showing that coffee is on the rise. Last year, the Telegraph reported a 22% plunge in tea sales, as coffee shops begin to flood British streets.

The UK isn’t the only foreign land to get a taste of the famous Canadian chain. Locations have sprouted in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, and India (although some of these locations only serve as partnerships). As of writing, there are currently 3,468 Tim Hortons locations in Canada alone. The United States operates over 800, and the Persian Gulf has a respectable, 29.

While it will take some time to visit London and be in walking distance of three Tim Hortons, we’re sure the chain will make headway in the land.
