A gunman went on a rampage in West Philadelphia Friday night, shooting six people, including two police officers, in what could be a crime motivated by hatred for the police.

Philadelphia's NBC affiliate WCAU reports that the gunman, who has yet to be publicly identified, was carrying a "rambling note that spewed hatred for law enforcement," according to what Philly police commissioner Richard Ross said Saturday morning.

Thank you for your kind words and support for our Sgt, the @PennDPS Officer, and the civilian victims from last night's senseless attack

The gunman targeted four apparently random civilians, including one woman who died from her wounds. One of the civilians was reportedly in critical condition Saturday morning. The two veteran officers who were shot were both in stable condition and expected to survive.
