Kid’s Hillary Clinton Costume Gets Hated On by Homophobes and Trump Supporters

A boy's Hillary Clinton Halloween costume illicited hateful responses.

A boy’s Hillary Clinton Halloween costume caused quite the stir on Twitter, getting hateful comments from homophobic people and Donald Trump supporters alike. It also wasn’t the only Clinton costume talked about this Halloweekend after Katy Perry got prosthetics to dress up like Democratic candidate for president (and got twerked on by Kendall Jenner). Perry enlisted boyfriend Orlando Bloom to dress up as Donald Trump, while a friend of Perry’s dressed as the former Secretary of State’s husband Bill Clinton.

The photo of the boy was posted by his mom on Sunday. “Our 8 year-old son is with you @hillaryclinton today and everyday,” wrote Twitter user @DebbersGar, hashtagging Clinton’s campaign slogan #ImWithHer and adding her own twist on the slogan, #wholefamswithher.

In a follow up tweet, the New York City-based mom explained that she and her wife were looking for a last minute costume for their five-year-old daughter. When Hillary Clinton was suggested, the daughter vetoed the idea while the couple’s eight-year-old son jumped at the chance, saying, “Well someone’s gotta be Hillary!”

Pictured in the photo, with his own hair, is the couple’s son wearing a yellow pantsuit complete with Clinton pin and DIY briefcase with the Clinton campaign ‘H’ logo.

The getup met with homophobic comments, which accused the boy of “crossdressing.” Other comments included critiques of the couple’s parenting for what many called “abuse” while other comments, some from Trump supporters, criticized Clinton.

@deepleftAndrew @DebbersGar @HFA I'm not the one cross-dressing my son for attention from a criminal...
@DebbersGar @HFA @HillaryClinton

This "boy" will be (or SHOULD be) in therapy by time he's 12yo. I'll pray 4him, so sad.#ChildAbuse
@DebbersGar @HFA this little boy should be removed from the abusive home his mentally ill "mother" has created
@bree_mayy I feel so sorry for the kid.. doesn't have a clue
@socialcain @DylanPowers5 @bree_mayy this would be a much better Hillary than the one pictured above. pic.twitter.com/5TYQFa1YBg
@marylovefreedom And I wouldn't rule out it's a Clinton campaign plant. They only tweeted once, in April, before uploading that image.

But many tweeted their support for the costume. To see what other celebrities were dressed up as this Halloween, head over here.
