After a relatively tame fall, we're finally seeing some snowfall on the ground. Say what you will of the frigid temperature, but the white blanket of snow always makes for a magical holiday season, and most of us are cool with it sticking around for a few weeks. Heck, most of us embrace the stuff! Who's in for building a snowman? Unfortunately in Canada, we often experience drastic shifts in weather, and that means the melting of snow, and the addition of rain onto our streets. You don't have to be a scientist to figure out what happens to the roads when wet pavement gets flash-frozen - the streets get dangerously icy.
This phenomena is currently happening in many towns and cities in the Eastern part of the nation. Icy roads mean cautious drivers, and some commuters are sticking indoors and staying home. So what does a Canadian do when icy roads become empty? You strap on some skates, of course. People across Ontario and Quebec are taking to social media to show off their frozen adventures of municipal streets. Have a look for yourself after the jump.
If you're planning on braving the icy Canadian streets this week, make sure you follow the rules of the road, and don't forget to keep an eye out for skaters. If you're feeling the seasonal spirit, have a hockey stick ready to go in the trunk. From what I hear, everyone is always looking for a goalie.
