British man was fatally stabbed in Nottingham, England at a memorial for a friend who was fatally stabbed less than 24 hours before.

The first victim, 27-year-old Martin Maughan (shown above), was killed Saturday morning. He was the first man to be stabbed to death in Sneinton, a suburb of Nottingham, according to the Nottingham Post

Less than 24 hours later and less than a mile away, 38-year-old Junior Fuller held a memorial party to honor and celebrate the life of his friend, Martin Maughan, according to the Mirror. During the party, someone stole Fuller's phone. Fuller chased the thief, but was stabbed three times and later died from the injuries.

While the two friends were both fatally stabbed within 24 hours, police said the murders are not connected. Chief Inspector Mark Stanley of the Nottinghamshire Police told BBC, "The murders are not believed to be linked and we're treating them as separate incidents." He continued, "The early indications are that these incidents are confined to people who are known to each other and who were at addresses they were invited to."

In a heartbreaking Facebook post, the first victim's mother, Kathleen Maughan, wrote about her grief over the loss of her son:

Police arrested have two men in connection to Maughan's murder. According to the Nottingham Post, a 43-year-old man, who police have not yet identified, has been released on bail pending further inquiries. On Tuesday morning, 19-year-old Ben Richardson was charged with murder and had a brief hearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court. He'll appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday.

Regarding Fuller's murder, no arrests have yet been made.
