A manhunt is underway for a Baltimore high school teacher accused of sexual misconduct with a 16-year-old student, the Baltimore Sun reports. Ekatherine Pappas, 24, fled the country before she could be charged with sexual abuse of a minor and fourth-degree sexual offense, according to Baltimore County Police. A warrant is out for her arrest.

News of the inappropriate relationship emerged after rumors of a sexually explicit video swirled across Franklin High School. Police spokeswoman Jennifer Peach confirmed that after investigating the matter, a resource officer at the school did in fact find a video on a student’s phone.

The incidents in question are said to have occurred on Dec. 21 and Dec. 22, just one month after Pappas started working at the school as a Spanish teacher. Peach did not elaborate on Pappas’ current whereabouts, but did confirm that “she absolutely is outside of the country."

A spokesperson for the school told the Sun that "action is being taken to include a recommendation for termination." Anyone with knowledge of where Pappas may have fled is being asked to call 410-307-2020 with any possible tips.
