If you're already planning a getaway this year, you may want to consider traveling to Canada. The country has been ranked the best place to visit in 2017 by trusted publication, The New York Times. Beating out 51 other destinations, Canada was deemed worthy of first place due to it being "a world unto itself, with cosmopolitan cities, barely explored natural wonders and everything in between". If you're lucky enough to reside in the Great White North, it may be time to embark on a road trip. With the nation celebrating its 150th anniversary of Confederation, there are a whole plethora of reasons to party it up in every province and territory.

Turning to its audience on Facebook, the Times asked for recommendations and came up with a list of exciting locales to visit in the world's second largest country. Various people shouted out British Columbia, Niagara Falls, and Ottawa's Confederation events later this year. As for the aforementioned birthday, national parks and historic sites will offer free admission in celebration. While Canada itself was ranked number one, you can see the other top ten entries below.

1. Canada

2. Atacama Desert, Chile

3. Agra, India

4. Zermatt, Switzerland

5. Botswana

6. Dubrovnik, Croatia

7. Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

8. Tijuana, Mexico

9. Detroit, US

10. Hamburg, Germany

Following the list's publication, Canadians backed up The New York times on social media. The special occasion even received a shout out from Prime Minister Trudeau.

If you're looking to visit Canada and spend some relaxation time in the outdoors, do so quickly. The reservations for national parks are being booked fast. In the meantime, you can also visit the 6 and find out where Drake lays up.
