Footage of Cynthia Cdebaca raising her arms in celebration while confessing to the 2014 murder of her son-in-law has gone viral. Both Cdebaca’s confession and her alleged reason for emptying 11 shots into Geoward Eustaquio are the subject of a video providing some strange and shocking insights into Cdebaca’s family dynamic.

According to confessional testimony from Cdebaca, a conflict between her and Eustaquio was sparked when he called her clothing “ghetto” and ordered her to change before leaving the house. Reports have Eustaquio and other members of the family regularly using the pejorative phrase “ghetto grandma” in reference to Cdebaca.

Local authorities believe Cdebaca fired 15 bullets and struck Eustaquio 11 times during the course of reloading her .38 caliber, five-shot revolver. The 65-year-old grandmother reportedly went to her vehicle after initially striking Eustaquio to reload and continue firing on him.

Information obtained by Fox affiliate KSWB of San Diego and corroborated by the San Diego Union-Tribune paint Cdebaca as having a casual demeanor on the day of the killing and possibly still suffering the effects of a 2001 stroke.

“After the shooting, she ate bacon and eggs at Denny’s, then headed to a Temecula casino for two hours of gambling,” reported Terri Figueroa of the Union-Tribune. “Detectives found her later that afternoon at her favorite Fallbrook coffee shop.”

Cdebaca claimed Eustaquio abused her and members of their family multiple times, producing bruises on her arms as proof. After a preliminary hearing in 2014, Cdebaca was charged with first-degree murder. Her bail was set at $5 million, and she faces up to 50 years in prison. A mental competency hearing was also scheduled in 2016, which falls in line with Cdebaca’s behavior of alternatively rejoicing and sobbing during her confession.
