A shooting at a San Antonio shopping mall Sunday left one victim dead and six others wounded.

According to ABC-affiliate News 4, two armed suspects attempted to rob a Kay Jewelers inside the Rolling Oaks Mall at around 3:30 p.m. CST. As they were fleeing the building, the assailants encountered two civilians who tried to intervene outside. One of the Good Samaritans was shot by a gunmen; the other pulled out his concealed weapon and wounded one of the shooters.

News 4 reports that the second gunmen fled the scene, shooting six people as he ran.

“It’s absolutely senseless. Absolutely senseless. This is the second time that a Good Samaritan was killed trying to intervene in a crime to help the victim,” San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said. “It’s absolutely senseless.”

The injured suspect was transported to the hospital, while the second remains at large. The other shooting victims were also transported to the hospital, in addition to a woman who reportedly suffered a heart attack during the shooting, and another who went into labor.

The mall is now on lockdown while officers search for the second suspect.
