Americans Prefer Trudeau to Trump

Donald Trump probably won't be happy once he hears the results of a new poll conducted by Global News Ipsos: it found that more Americans agree than disagree that they’d prefer to have Prime Minister Justin Trudeau the White House over current President Donald Trump (a split of 40-33 per cent), while about a third of respondents (27 per cent) didn’t have an opinion either way. And no Donald, this is not fake news.

According to Darrell Bricker, CEO of Ipsos Public Affairs, one of the reasons is that the Americans who didn't vote for Trump (which number higher than those that actually DID vote for him thanks to the electoral college) are "really quite depressed” about his actions in office. Trudeau, on the other hand, compares quite favorably in comparison to Trump because he communicates a "sense of hope."

The poll also revealed that Trudeau has ben doing a good job at increasing Americans' awareness about our prime minister in general. It found just over 40 per cent of Americans say they’re familiar with Trudeau, while only 17 per cent of people knew who Harper was. They were also more aware of Trudeau than Neil Gorsuch, who is Trump's nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court. The poll also found that most Americans seem to believe that Trudeau can stand up to Trump, and that they don't believe Canada's policies are making North American more open to terrorists.

No word yet on whether Trump has seen the results of the poll, but we're sure he will send a tweet with his opinions when and if he does.
