Barack Obama, champion kitesurfer? According to Virgin Group founder and noted guy with cooler life than you Richard Branson, Obama has certainly earned the title. Branson shared photos and a video from the former president's Caribbean visit Tuesday, revealing the two actually squared off in a friendly aquatic competition while simultaneously chilling hard as hell.

"One of the first stories Barack told me when he and Michelle arrived on Moskito Island was how, just before he became President, he had been surfing on a dangerous break in Hawaii," Branson said of Obama's visit. "When he came in from an exhilarating session, the new head of his security team turned to him and said: 'This will be the last time you surf for eight years.' For the next eight years he didn't have the chance to surf, enjoy watersports or do many of the things he loved."

But look at him now, totally shredding:

Branson, who was keen on mastering foilboard surfing, then set Obama up with some kitesurfing training. "Could Barack learn to kitesurf before I learned to foilboard?" Branson wondered. "We agreed to have a final day battle to see who could stay up the longest." After Obama spent "two days solid" learning the basics, the showdown took place. Obama, with 100 meters to Branson's 50, emerged victorious.

Branson has now challenged Obama to round two. "On his next visit, we plan to do the long kite over to Anegada together," Branson said Tuesday.
