Just when you thought things couldn't possibly get any worse, rumors are abound that Sarah Palin may be the next US Ambassador to Canada.

Yup, Alaska's favourite leader of the "right-winging, bitter-clinging proud clingers of our guns, our God, and our religions" (yes, she really said that) could be the official representative of the Trump government up here north of the 49th. It's a move that set Twitter ablaze with users commenting that it feels like "the ultimate trolling," among other sentiments:

Appointing Sarah Palin as the US ambassador to Canada is, like, ultimate trolling.
Sarah Palin as ambassador? Well that would show how little Steve Bannon and his pal @realDonaldTrump think of Canada https://t.co/Js4B2Qseah
If he makes Sarah Palin the US Ambassador to Canada. I say we keep our oil and hockey players. BTW.... does she speak Canadian?
@JudyMcLarty @SarahPalinUSA Palin as ambassador is an insult. To any country.
Dear Mr. Trump: Rather than appoint Sarah Palin as ambassador to Canada, please bomb us. Signed, all intelligent life in Canada. #killmenow

If you recall, Palin shot to fame in 2008 when John McCain made her his vice-presidential running mate. It was basically political career suicide, and a move that many think may have lost him the election. Her ignorance and mind-blowing gaffes were something never before seen in politics, and not seen since until Trump made his way onto the scene back in 2015.

The ambassador position has yet to be filled since Trump took office last month. On Wednesday, White House spokesman and media darling Sean Spicer refused to either confirm of deny the rumor about Palin's appointment: “We have no additional ambassador nominations or announcements to make on that front. I’m sure at some point we will have soon."

There's still hope for us that Palin wouldn't actually want the position, since it would require her to retire from public speaking and television appearances, a hustle that's made her approximately $12 million USD to date. For now we'll chalk this one up to Alternative Facts, but as the Trump administration has proved thus far, truth can often be stranger than fiction.
