Kim Kardashian, Adele, and More Show Support for #InternationalWomensDay and #ADayWithoutAWoman

Celebrities from all walks of life, including both men and women, are showing support for #InternationalWomensDay and #ADayWithoutAWoman on Wednesday.

International Women’s Day is a day that has been celebrated all across the world for more than a century now. The earliest evidence of it dates way back to the early 1900s, and it is now held on March 8 every year.

But International Women’s Day has taken on a new meaning in 2017 thanks to the formation of A Day Without a Woman, which is set to run in tandem with the annual celebration of women. A Day Without a Woman is being billed as "a one-day demonstration of economic solidarity" that is designed to recognize the "enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to our socio-economic system" despite the inequities, discrimination, and harassment that many women are forced to face every day. And it calls for those who wish to participate in it to strike from work, avoid shopping for the day, and wear red to show solidarity with the cause.

Here at Complex, we are showing our support for women in a number of different ways today. We are only posting content on the Complex website and its associated sites Pigeons and Planes, First We Feast, and Sole Collector that focuses on International Women’s Day and A Day Without a Woman. We are also taking to the streets to take part in marches and service projects aimed at benefiting women. And we are standing in solidarity with the women who help make Complex what it is day in and day out.

But we are obviously not the only ones lending our support to #InternationalWomensDay and #ADayWithoutAWoman on Wednesday. Many of the celebrities that we cover on a regular basis are also speaking up on behalf of women everywhere and celebrating them on social media. So in addition to trying to do our part to bring awareness to the various women’s issues that are being discussed today, we also wanted to shine a spotlight on those notable figures who are supporting #InternationalWomensDay and #ADayWithoutAWoman. Scroll down to see the overwhelming amount of support that is being spread around out there in the world.
