Multiple People Reportedly Shot at UPS Center in San Francisco (UPDATE)

The shooting caused a heavy police response at the warehouse and customer service center, located less than three miles from downtown San Francisco.

UPDATED 1:54 p.m. ET: At least three people are dead following the shooting at a UPS center in San Francisco, NBC Bay Areareported. A UPS spokesperson said a UPS employee "opened fire" on other employees before turning the weapon on himself. The suspect is reportedly dead.​ Police have not publicly commented on injuries or fatalities.

A shooting took place at a UPS center in San Francisco Wednesday morning, NBC Bay Areareported. "#SFPD is at the scene of a shooting that occurred near 17th & Vermont," the San Francisco Police Department said on Twitter. "Please avoid the area, expect street closures and traffic delays."

NBC correspondent Gadi Schwartz said the shooter was reportedly down. "So far, reports 5 shot, possibly 2 killed," Schwartz said.

A spokesperson for Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital told the Associated Press that the hospital had received multiple victims, but did not elaborate on their conditions. SFPD, however, had not released information on injuries at the time of this writing. According to the AP, the UPS center in question is a "sprawling UPS warehouse and customer service center" located approximately 2.5 miles from downtown San Francisco.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. local time, SFPD reported the incident as contained.

The San Francisco Police Department did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.
