Metropolitan Police were called to north London's Finsbury Park after a van struck several people outside a mosque shortly after midnight.

"Officers are on the scene with other emergency services," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement. "There are a number of casualties being worked on at the scene. There has been one person arrested." Authorities, however, wouldn't confirm at the time whether Muslims involved in the incident were leaving the mosque after Tarawih prayers during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. This latest incident comes just weeks after a van plowed into pedestrians on the London Bridge.

Harun Khan, secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, has released the following statement on Twitter in response to the incident.
