Florida Woman Killed Just Hours After Opening Up About Going From Homeless to Making Six Figures

The wife and mother-of-three was just 33 years old.

Makeva Jenkins' life was not only a story of success, it was something that could inspire others. Jenkins went from being homeless four years ago to managing The Prime Enterprise Group, a business consulting firm that works with entrepreneurs and small businesses. On Wednesday night, the 33-year-old wife and mother of three shared a post on Facebook detailing her journey from homelessness to "making multi six figures."

"I’m in awe of how far I’ve come," she wrote. "Fast forward to now: We overcame being homeless in 2013/2014 to reaching my six figure mark in 2015 to now making multi six figures. No matter what the road looked like, I followed my heart and stuck with it growing my business. I'm saying this to say, anyone can do it. It takes determination and consistency."

Around 2 a.m., about two hours after that post was published, a masked man knocked on the front door of her Lake Worth, Florida home, according to the Palm Beach Post. After the shooter allowed Jenkins' kids to leave the room and go into the backyard, an altercation ensued and Jenkins was shot in the head. She was rushed to a hospital where she died that morning. The suspect fled the scene by stealing the family’s vehicle, but ditched the car shortly thereafter. His identity and motive are still unknown.

A post on Jenkins' Facebook page went up this morning confirming her death, as well as asking that "their privacy be respected at this most trying time."
