If You Go to McDonald's This Sunday You've Got a Shot at Snagging Free Ice Cream for Life

McDonald's will be giving out free ice cream for life for one lucky customer this Sunday.

On Sunday, July 16, which is apparently "Ice Cream Day," I guess, you can grab a free soft-serve cone at a nearby  McDonald's. Now, as is usually the case for stuff like this, there's a small catch. In order to get your ice cream without parting with your dough, you need to download the McDonald's mobile app. Then you have to present that offer, which will appear under "My Deals" in the app, at either the drive-thru or restaurant counter between 2 and 5 p.m. in order to complete this less-complicated-than-it-sounds transaction.

More importantly, just by doing this same exact thing, you or some other lucky SOB could win free ice cream for life if you happen to be the one person who walks out of your local McDonald's with a brass and gold-plated cone replica. That cone will allow you to get one free cone every week for 50 years. In order to win that, you don't have to do anything differently than what we detailed in the paragraph above. You've just got to be super-fortunate. Oh, and also 13 or older.

In addition to these giveaways being a way for the chain to tie themselves into "Ice Cream Day," they will also serve to highlight some recent changes that Mickey D's has made to their soft-serve recipe, which went into effect towards the end of 2016. These changes include taking the artificial flavors, colors and preservatives out of all of their ice cream, including that which can be found in shakes and McFlurries.

Sadly McDonald's locations that are within gas stations, Walmarts, theme parks, stadiums, airports, museums, zoos, etc. will not be participating. I probably should've said that earlier. Just find a standalone one. It can't be too hard.

Best of luck to you.
