On Wednesday, April 20th, TV On The Radio's bassist Gerard Smithlost his battle with lung cancer. His passing comes just over a month after the band had announced the diagnosis via their website. As a result of his passing, TV On The Radio has canceled their next five shows in the month of April. Rest In Peace.

Song of The Week: Beyonce "run the world (girls)"

Long known for putting the fellas in their place ("Irreplaceable?" "If I Were A Boy?"), on Monday, Beyonce returned with another girl-power anthem. The song—written by The-Dream–is produced by UK-based producer Switch and samples Major Lazer. Stay tuned for more from Beyonce in the coming months, as her new album is expected to drop in June.

After a few leaked trailers over the past two weeks, Beastie Boys fans everywhere were looking forward to what the hip-hop pioneers had up their sleeve. Turns out, the Beasties teamed up with MTV to premier their 22-minute short film entitled Fight For Your Rights Revisited at midnight on April 21. The film features cameos from John C. Reilly, Will Ferrell, and Jack Black among others, and feels reflective of the band's License To Ill days. Good to see the Beasties have their mojo back in time for Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2.

Win of The Week / Fail of The Week

fail

It was Prodigy week here at Complex. We had a great Q&A with him, debuted his new EP, and ran some excerpts from his amazing new book, My Infamous Life, which dropped this week and is definitely a win. Be sure to check out the segments we ran and go cop the book. The L this week goes to Afroman. The "Because I Got High" rapper is now being sued after he forgot to play a concert he had already been paid for. The irony is that suit was filed on 4/20, the national weed smoking holiday. We're pretty sure we know what he's going to tell the judge...that is, if he remembers his court-date.

Number of The Week: how much money does jersey shore's Pauly D make in a month?

pauly
Looks like Pauly D is fist-pumping straight to the bank these days. On Wednesday, the New York Daily News reported that Pauly D is likely pulling down $500,000 a month. The high-profile reality television star also doubles as a DJ, netting him up to $40,000 per gig. If you add that with the $80,000 per episode he made off of season three of Jersey Shore, what he makes off his own MTV spin-off show, and endorsements, a cool $500,000 a month is what you get. Now that deserves a fist-pump.
