Story of The Week: Odd Future Signs A record Deal
On Tuesday, Odd Future’s manager Christian Clancy confirmed that the sweepstakes was over, and that the kids of OFWGKTA would be taking their talents to Sony/RED Distribution. However, the deal is an independent one. It allows the group to own 100% of their masters and maintain complete creative control of their music, art, and release schedule. Looks like the Wolf Gang will finally take the plunge that Drake never did.

Monday, Eminem joined forces with his hometown homeboy Royce Da 5'9" and announced that they would be releasing an EP together called Bad Meets Evil. The EP is slated to be released June 14 and on Thursday they warmed up the pot with this record produced by Supa Dups and Shady himself. Looks like it's going to be hot summer. Satan, you scurred?

It's been 15 years since Tupac—or at that time, Makaveli—released The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. But on Wednesday this video took us back with some behind-the-scenes footage of Pac's "Becoming Clean" photoshoot with famed photographer David La Chappelle, where the rapper is placed in a bathtub nude, and under a pile of gold chains. Sure, the photo is a fail but hey, it’s still classic never-seen-before footage of one of the greats. Rest in peace.

Win of The Week / Fail of The Week

Coming through with a big win for hip-hop is Warren G, who will be releasing a new EP featuring the classic crooning of the recently deceased Nate Dogg (R.I.P.). Warren says he has an album full of unreleased joints with Nate and we should expect it this summer. Taking the L this week was LimeWire’s founder Mark Gorton, who is now being investigated for trying to hide his assets in order to determine his net worth. If it is as high as expected, Gorton could possibly end up owing the record labels billions of dollars in damages. Hope he’s been saving up...

Quote of The Week: Cam'Ron On Ghostwriting For Assholes
top quote

What happened was, [Untertainment CEO Lance] Un [Rivera] gave Mase $30,000 to write five songs for Lil Cease at that time and Mase gave me $5,000 of the 30 to write one or two of the songs...I wrote the ‘Crush on You’ song and they ended up keeping it for the Lil Kim album but it was really for Lil Cease. The original ‘Crush on You’ is all Lil Cease, Lil Kim isn’t even on the record.
