What a difference one week can make. Madonna’s new album, MDNA, sold 359,000 copies during its debut week. In a drastic change, her album has now plummeted to 46,000 copies sold in its second week. That’s about an 88% change from week one to week two, which set a record for the biggest sales drop.
Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary, had this to say about the album when it was going well:
None
We think Oseary should check some of the reviews, which all seem to agree that Madge has lost her touch and can't compete with younger acts like Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry. He was later surprised that the album is on track to do some poor numbers, claiming she didn’t have to heavily promote it because the music would speak for itself. He might need to come up with a better strategy for week three.
