ILLROOTS is a website that curates the culture in every possible facet, from music to fashion.

In the latest installment of the ILLROOTS Portraits series, Vic Mensa speaks upon the time he tried to sneak into Lollapalooza. The Chicago native was hopping a fence to get into the festival in 2010, and used the wiring for the current of the train to climb further. However, his forearm glanced against a transformer, causing him to get electrocuted and fall down.

The injury has been touched upon in several of Vic's songs since the incident, including songs on his most recent mixtape, INNANETAPE. Vic finally breaks down the details of the incident. Ultimately, the Chicago native is lucky; things could have been much worse.

Vic's band, Kids These Days, went on to perform at Lollapalooza the following year.
