R. Kelly was recently the subject of Elliott Wilson's ongoing interview series CRWN. During part one of their sit-down at The Cutting Room in NYC, Kelly talked about Black Panties, working with Lady Gaga, and how a number of his records have been written in the parking lot of McDonald's. No joke.

Wilson asked the R&B singer to describe the direction of his new album, which integrates sexual talk and humor on songs like "Marry the Pussy" and "Cookies." Kelly said this was done purposely to entertain his large female fan base. "It's sexual classy. I think this album is gonna be around for a while just like 12 Play," he said. "As long as women are gonna be wearing black panties, Black Panties will be around." Later on the conversation takes a more serious tone as R. Kelly talks about dealing with throat surgery and the death of his mother, who passed away in 1993. Watch the full clip above.
