Earlier today, news broke that Steve Aoki would be hosting a new "weekly interactive radio show on SiriusXM's BPM channel called Steve Aoki's Remix Rewind" that would allow fans to vote for their favorite remixes; Steve would then be presenting the winning remixes in a special countdown. This would be in addition to his "Aoki's House" program, which currently runs on Electric Area. While we're not 100% sure if this special live stream is a celebratory one, we got word that Twitch, a platform that's normally used to stream video game play, would be hosting this special performance live from Pacha Ibiza tonight.
Twitch says that they surveyed the Twitch community, asking them what kind of content they'd like to see. An overwhelming 80% expressed an interest in streaming live music. That somehow lead to this special EDM event from Aoki, who was quoted as saying “There has been a long symbiotic relationship between video games and recorded music" (you may remember that he was a playable character in their NBA 2K9 and 2K10 games). "With the gaming industry now doing live broadcasts on Twitch, it makes sense to bridge these two cultures with live music."
