Pete Rock pays homage to Nas' Illmatic and the One9 and Erik Parker film Time Is Illmatic today with a new mixtape. Named after the film itself, the project has contributions from all of the producers who worked on Illmatic—Large Professor, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, DJ Premier, and L.E.S.
“I was motivated to produce this mixtape because Time Is Ilmatic is a part of hip-hop history that everyone should know about; and have in both their music and now film collection," said Pete Rock, over email.
