Crystal Castles' Ethan Kath has had a tumultuous week and a half. Nine days ago, the producer released the band's latest song,"Frail," with an accompanying statement that ended with "people often gave her credit for my lyrics and that was fine, I didn't care." He was referring to his former band mate and front woman, Alice Glass, who left the group last year. Although Kath removed the note, Glass still managed to see it and respond to it on twitter; she stated that she wrote all of the lyrics and melodies for the band and was excited to begin her solo career.

Kath recently took some time out of his schedule to speak with Pitchfork and give his perspective on the entire situation. When asked about his original statement, Kath stated: "I was making a point that my vision for CC was continuing. When I realized it came off as shade, I pulled it because I have no desire to throw any shade, I really do wish her the best."

Later in the interview, he was asked to respond to Glass' comments: "I was surprised by her statements because in that same i-d interview she claims I was restricting her ability to express her own creative input, she couldn't be herself, and that she needed to leave to find her own voice. Two months later she tweets that it was her voice. It can't be both."

Thankfully, there was some good news to come out of all of this, Kath confirmed that there is a new Crystal Castles album in the works right now. However, fans are going to have to get acquainted with at least one new vocalist, ""Frail" was recorded recently and released as a message that we are in studio writing and recording a new album. The vocals are not my pitched voice (as on "Violent Youth" or the album version of "Not in Love"). A girl named Edith is singing." You can read the entire interview here and listen to "Frail" below.
