In between the relentless sunburn, communal drug use, and the undesirable restroom situation, actual music also happens at the annual Tennessee gathering otherwise known as Bonnaroo. For example, Kendrick Lamar and Chance the Rapper joined legendary multi-genre juggernauts Earth, Wind & Fire on Friday for a pair of properly accompanied freestyles.
The collaboration was reportedly not planned, with Kendrick and Chance only joining the band after an impromptu invitation from Verdine White and company. The organic pairing proved fruitful, pushing Earth, Wind & Fire's originally slated 70-minute slot to a well-rounded 90 minutes in totality.
On Saturday, Chance will also join a slew of others — including Pretty Lights, Reggie Watts, Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo, and the D.M.C. half of Run-D.M.C. — for an 80s Throwback Superjam.
