Over the weekend, Sam Smith hinted that he's someway involved with the new James Bond movie, when he posted a picture on social media of himself wearing a ring with SPECTRE's seven-legged emblem that is also featured in the movie's trailer.

After teasing fans for a day, the British singer took to social media once again to confirm the news telling fans, "This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations.  I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it."

The honor follows a hugely successful year for the singer who won Best New Artist, Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year at this year's Grammys just as Adele had when she was chosen to sing the Oscar-winning theme song "Skyfall" for the last Bond film in 2013. The song is called "Writing's On The Wall" and is available for CD or vinyl pre-order now and iTunes at midnight with the official track set for release Sept. 25, according to BBC.
