15 years ago today, Linkin Park released their classic debut album, Hybrid Theory, which has since gone on to sell over 10 million copies in the United States. To celebrate the anniversary, Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn sat down with Complex TV to discuss the making of the album and its overall impact since it was released.
During the conversation, the guys discussed the original artwork for the album, and how it was inspired by early works from Banksy. They also talked about how major and independent labels were passing on them in the earlier stages of their careers, which apparently included Clive Davis. Shinoda explained that Davis didn't like to sign more than one act with a unique kind of sound and because he had just inked Kid Rock, he couldn't sign Linkin Park to a deal. That seemed to work out for everyone involved, seeing that Hybrid Theory became the most successful debut album of the century.
