Northern Touch: The Best Canadian Songs Of November

Catch up on the gems you might have missed this month.

Safe, a l l i e, DCF, Kaytranada.

At the end of every month, we round up the songs and music videos by Canadians that made us feel some type of way. Throw some headphones on, kick back, and catch up on the gems you might have missed this month.

Kaytranada, “195”

Born out of XL Recordings’ 20th anniversary compilation, Kaytranada’s “195” is a welcome re-up from Montreal’s boss of bass. It’s not clear whether or not this stuttering sample and hypnotic house beat will make it onto his forthcoming debut full-length 99.9%, but regardless, it’s a sure sign of good things to come in 2016.

You might recognize Husser from Montreal rap trio The Posterz. Here, he’s teamed up with everyone’s favourite mask-wearing instrumental trap-rock band Ragers on the solo cut “Name Another N!99@,” a menacing slice of boom-bap. This is a little more aggro compared to The Posterz’ usual fare, and we aren’t mad. Borrow your grandma’s rascal scooter and put your middle fingers up to the sky—Husser is one of the realest out here.

Simply put, this is one of the best songs of the year. Just press play.
