Rapsody made an appearance at Howard University for the latest installment of NPR's Tiny Desk performance series, and she totally killed it. Backed up by 9th Wonder, she ran through her songs "Godzilla," "The Man," and "Hard to Choose," pausing to reflect on both black fatherhood and the struggle for acceptance of black female beauty. The crowd was clearly enjoying it, and she received a great response after each song.

The North Carolina rapper has been kicking around in the hip-hop scene for a while now, but gained a lot of notoriety this year after being the sole rap feature on Kendrick Lamar's critically acclaimed album To Pimp a ButterflyShe was featured on the song "Complexion (A Zulu Love)." You can watch the intimate performance in the video above.
