The strange saga of the Wu-Tang Clan's$2 million record Once Upon a Time in Shaolin continues on unabated. News broke earlier this week that both the Clan's leader RZA and the individual who purchased the record Martin Shkreli has both been sued by artist Jason Koza because, allegedly, a few of his illustrations were included in a leather booklet that accompanied the one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang album. TMZ recently caught up with RZA who responded to the charges.
"I think that's all a misconception," the Abbott told the person questioning him. "The album had no art in the jacket. The album is the box, this particular special case, and the album is in that." He then added. "The album is the album. Anything else that was gifted to Martin is a gift. He was given a couple of gifts. He was given a book as a gift, a book of lyrics, and he was given a pair of speakers, and a few other things."
The issue at hand started when Shkreli showed off the contents of the album in a video interview with Vice and Koza recognized some of his art that he had posted to a Wu-Tang blog amongst the contents. Koza is currently seeking unspecified damages in the case, and if he wins, the booklet could be taken from Shkreli, or even destroyed. Check out the art in question below.
