The 88th Academy Awards are airing live at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and it just announced the winner of Best Original Song. Congrats to Jimmy Napes and Sam Smith.

Napes and Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall” (Spectre) was up against nomineesJ. Ralph’s “Manta Ray” (Racing Extinction), “Simple Song #3” (Youth), and Lady Gaga’s “Til It Happens to You” (The Hunting Ground). Three of the songs nominated were performed live tonight. You can watch those performances here.

Last year, Common and John Legend took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Glory.” They join Eminem (“Lose Yourself”) and Three 6 Mafia (“It’s Hard Out Here for Pimp”) as the only recipients of an Oscar in hip-hop. "Glory," which was created for the film Selma, also won the Golden Globe.
