Yasiin Bey appeared in a South African court today to face charges that he used a fraudulent passport while trying to leave the country back in January. According to TMZ, Bey was initially denied entry into the court because he was wearing a turban on his head and had to return with a scarf that was loosely wrapped around his scalp. Bey's team has continually denied that the rapper and actor was using fraudulent documents while traveling, and that he simply had a world passport, which he has used before.

This was Bey's first appearance in court, where he's facing charges of using the false documentation and illegally helping his family stay in South Africa. According to News 24, both sides agreed today to postpone the initial hearing while the state finishes up its investigation. A new court date has been set for later this month, and Bey will remain free on bail. While the case unfolds, it will be interesting to see when Bey will have time to record, as he previously announced that his final album will be out at some point this year. It's still unclear what kind of punishment Bey could face if he's convicted of the charges he's facing, but we'll continue to update this story as more details come out. Bey and his team have yet to make a comment on today's hearing.
