The Game shot down rumors of a potential G-Unit reunion on Monday during an interview with HipHopDX on the set of his new music video "Roped Off." "Yeah, I don't know where that came from, man, but I can't see that happening no time in the near future," he said.
While the news may be disappointing for longtime G-Unit fans who were excited about the possibility of a reconciliation, it's also not much of a surprise. After a decade of beefing and diss tracks—not to mention the infamous February 2005 shootout involving 50 and Game outside of New York's Hot 97—the idea that 50 Cent and Game could put their differences aside and reunite seemed a longshot.
At the very least, though, it does sound like the whole crew is ready to put all of the anger and animosity they've had for one another behind them. During his interview with HipHopDX, The Game went on to explain that 50 is "doing his thing, I'm doing my thing, and Banks, Buck, and Yayo, they're all doing they thing... Positivity and all love these days. 2016, we trying to keep everybody alive out here, man."
While they haven't had the grand reconciliation many have hoped for, 50 and Game have been noticeably friendlier with each other in recent months. Game posted an Instagram video in March praising 50's Effen vodka. 50 and Game also peacefully partied in the same club together later that month, and Game buried the hatchet with Lloyd Banks in February while hanging out with him in Dubai. It's why many fans thought a reunion might be coming when 50 and Game showed up at the same video shoot for DJ Drama's "Wishing" in early May. The fact that G-Unit isn't reuniting is sad news for G-Unit fans, but if nothing else, it seems like the days of dissing and shootouts are finally behind them.
