Gucci Mane’s Everybody Lookingdebuts high on the Billboard 200 chart this week, marking his highest ranking album of his career.
According to Billboard, Everybody Looking, released on July 22, sold 68,000 units (of which 43,000 are in traditional album sales). Gucci’s ninth studio album lands at No. 2 on the chart, earning him his best ranking since he peaked at No. 4 for The Appeal: Georgia’s Most Wanted in 2010.
Everybody Looking was recorded over six days after Gucci was released from federal prison in May. Gucci’s frequent collaborator Mike WiLL Made-It, deemed it a “classic hip-hop album,” while his engineer Sean Paine said it is Gucci’s best album he has ever done. “It’s the realest album he ever did. I mixed 30 of them motherfuckers, and I say this is the one right here,” he said.
Drake’s VIEWS once again dominates the No. 1 spot for the twelfth nonconsecutive week, earning another 85,000 units sold. At 11 weeks, VIEWS surpassed Taylor Swift’s 1989 reign in late 2014 and early 2015. Now, VIEWS has the most weeks at No. 1 since 2014, a record previously held by the Frozen soundtrack when it collected 13 frames at No. 1. VIEWS also has the most weeks at No. 1 for an album by an artist since Adele’s 21 ruled for 24 weeks in 2011 and 2012.
