Jas Prince sat down with VladTV to discuss the origins of his relationship with Drake. Surprisingly, it all had some pretty humble beginnings, with Jas discovering Drake on MySpace.

"I'm the internet man. I know how to get on there and find what I like," he said. "I think that was the first time I ever heard of Toronto, Canada. I was like, he's dope, and I sent him a message and he responded." This was around the time of his mixtape The Comeback Season. Jas remembered telling him "I'm gonna make you famous," to which Drake responded skeptically.

They kept in contact, however, and eventually he helped get Drake in contact with Lil Wayne after playing some of his music while they were in the car together. After Wayne decided he liked the music, they flew Drake from Toronto to Houston the next day. That day, they recorded the original version of "Forever," which at the time featured Drake, Wayne, and Kidd Kidd. Kidd would later be replaced with Eminem and Kanye West.

Desite Jas' affiliation with Rap-A-Lot, he said that he never hesitated in helping Drake sign with YMCMB. "I felt like it was a smart business move," he said, noting that this all happened right at the peak of Lil Wane's career.

He also recalled Drake recording "Best I Ever Had." "I don't even think he liked the song," he said, but eventually came around to it after the people around him kept praising it. Drake got hooked up with Kanye to direct the video, and then "that's when it was time to change our lives," he said.
