In the latest round of the ongoing Drake and Joe Budden beef, Budden hits up The Brilliant Idiots podcast to break everything down for hosts Charlamagne Tha God and Andrew Schulz, including why he felt compelled to call out Drake in the first place.

Charlamagne opens the conversation up by letting Budden air out their issues. "I haven't agreed with you in years—part of the reason I enjoy you so much is because I am able to disagree with you," Budden tells Charlamagne. Still, later in the conversation, he calls him a puppet because he feels that he just broadcasts the same opinions of the public. "I'm not stuck in the '90s," Charlamagne fires back. "I'm not standing on the corner in denim jean shorts and construction timbs talking about bringing back," which he says is what Budden does.

Then the conversation shifts to the origins of Budden beef with Drake as everyone tries to understand the animosity. Budden immediately points the finger to 4PM in Calabasas and says that Drake was sending him subliminal shots that only he would understand. "He does that often to people," says Budden. "So, it's really just me knowing. It was my job to call it all out. I knew the media would say I'm crazy. Later on, you all will get it."

Drake responded to Budden's  beef tracks, "Wake" and "Making of a Murderer, Pt. 1," referencing Budden's 2003 hit, "Pump It Up" on his verse. "Pump, pump, pump it up/ She got a good head on her, but I pump it up/I'm not a one hit wonder, they know all my stuff/You let me turn into the nigga that you almost was." That felt like the ultimate diss to Budden.

"I'm hurt. I am hurt. I'm appalled that nigga who know my pen game...he know I don't care about none of that fame, success, attention, none of that, he know what I do. And you want to use your celebrity to do that to me? We smoked hookah together. How could you do that?"

Everyone tries to pinpoint the exact source of Budden's fury, noting the palpable anger that's been apparent in all of his diss tracks. To his credit, Budden jokes "I've been sounding angry since '96" in one of the few light points of the podcast.

Charlamagne summarizes his stance by noting, "Joe Budden is a bully acting like a victim." The back and forth is as entertaining as ever as everyone dissects Budden's beef with Drake, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, Birdman, and more asking for evidence that Budden says he doesn't have to give.
