Michael Jackson's title as the King of Pop is well-deserved, though to someone like Mariah Carey—who knew him well—it's clear MJ had a lot more to offer before he passed.

In Complex's new cover story with Mariah Carey, she opened up about Michael's creative abilities. “If Michael Jackson were alive he could sing, 'I can’t feel my face when I’m with you.' He could sing any of those songs," she says in reference to The Weeknd's chart-topping 2015 single "Can't Feel My Face." The Weeknd has not been shy about his own MJ comparisons, even explaining in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that "[MJ's] everything to me, so you’re going to hear it in my music."

Mariah certainly hears the connection, and even went as far as to say she wished the King of Pop made a song in the same vein. "Sometimes it reminds, ‘Oh, I wish that Michael would’ve had a song like this,’ because I loved when he did you give me butterflies and stuff like that. They would always hate on that at Sony because they wanted him to do these big pop records.” MJ may have never made a "Can't Feel My Face," but we're guessing his 13 No. 1 singles will do just fine.
