Sir the Baptist Goes Home to Chicago in Tidal's "Road to Made In America" Series

Sir the Baptist heads back to Chicago in the new Tidal "Road to Made In America" video.

Sir the Baptist demonstrates his deep family roots and passion for his native community as he takes us around Chicago's Bronzeville district in Tidal's latest episode of "Road to Made In America."

Baptist takes us into his family's history and explains how his Father came to Chicago from the South at the same time as some of the country's greats including Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, and Sam Cooke. He also notes his family's close tie to church and that they spent most of their time there, which is also the same place that his mother's water broke when he was giving birth to him. "That's how much we were in church growing up. Her water broke in church when she laughed, and then she came to the hospital."

"I consider myself, sort-of an urban creature," Baptist tells the camera. "Contributing to the community spiritually, mentally...It's so essential for me not to just come up and say I'm the dopest artist that can spit." He goes on to say that we must understand our history and our heritage in order to understand the best way to move forward in each aspect in our lives.

The episode in the latest of Tidal's "Road to Made In America" series that highlights the backgrounds and inspirations for the artists performing on the Tidal stage of the 2016 Budweiser Made In America festival where Rihanna, Coldplay, and 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne as ColleGrove will headline.

Baptist has been making a name for himself sharing the stage with the likes of Chance the Rapper, Travis Scott, and King Louie, and we are definitely excited to catch him live.
