It’s no secret that the internet has completely changed the music industry, especially when it comes to the hip-hop realm. Just look at artists like Soulja Boy, Joey Bada$$, and Lil Yachty; these guys have unapologetically used the World Wide Web as a means to establish themselves as known rappers. And, of course, many aspiring artists have taken notice; however, according to Clams Casino, there’s one rapper whose internet ingenuity has had the biggest impacted the next wave: Lil B.

“He’s the most important artist of the internet age,” Casino told HipHopDX. “All the kids that are coming up now are doing things on their own and not really caring. A lot of that comes from him in how people use the internet. He’s inspired a whole generation doing that.”

It makes sense that Casino would give Lil B so much credit. After all, the two first collaborated eight years ago, a time when the BasedGod was still using Myspace as vehicle for his music.

“The first time we worked together was in the fall of 2008,” Casino said. “I got his email from one of his many MySpace pages he had at the time. I sent some beats over and the first song we did together was called ‘What’s My Name.’”

Casino has since produced music for big-name acts like A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, ScHoolboy Q, and Vince Staples. Back in July, he also delivered his debut studio album, 32 Levels, which featured Lil B on a third of its tracks. And now, Casino is gearing up for the launch of his five-date tour along with—you guessed it—Lil B.

“It just makes sense from a tour point because of how big of a part he is on the album and process of creating it,” Casino said. “We’ve done a few shows together. I’ve come and supported him for some of his shows, but this is the first time we’re going out together.”
