Every month at at Complex AU, we've been trying to bring you the most interesting, unique, and ground-breaking local tracks we can find, all from the massive pool of amazingly talented Australian artists we have out here.

August's instalment brought us a brilliant international collaboration, the return of a seasoned vet, and some great releases from some Get Familiar regulars.

With singles from Tkay Maidza, Midas.Gold, Briggs, Hau and more, it's safe to say this month's been certifiably lit. Check out August's playlist below, and make sure to double back at the end of September for another one.

Adelaide’s (and Australia’s) best hope for a huge international crossover star, Tkay Maidza, has announced that she’ll be releasing her debut album Tkay on October 28.

With that, she dropped this massive collaboration with Killer Mike to tide us over until the drop.  On it, the Run The Jewels rapper gives Tkay some sound advice about haters trying to stand in her way over some clanging, perpetual production – this one’s a big deal.

Beatrixx Kiddo “Around The World”

Jumping on a beat you could very easily hear Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown collab on, Beatrixx Kiddo has touched down with her latest single “Around The World”.

After the success of her more recent work, showcasing her straight spittin’ with partner in crime GMC as part of AyeTeam, this track demonstrates a more vulnerable side to her rap persona that proves just how radio ready the Melbourne artist is.

A.B. Original (Briggs & Trials) f/ Dan Sultan “January 26”

The West Coast influence that this duo has been bringing to their work together is something that we haven’t really heard too much of in Aussie hip-hop, but it’s very welcome.

On this g-funked up joint, the pair aggressively call out the tradition of Australia Day – while it may be controversial, they’ve made a pretty damn good case here.
